Why our customers choose the 'Star Treatment'
Buying and maintaining an RV is a big investment, so it pays to look beyond what sounds good on paper. Many insurers only cover the cab and chassis and rely on third parties for claims decisions, which can be frustrating and slow.
At Star Insure, we do things differently. We take care of everything in-house and cover all the components you’d expect with your RV; from fridges and stoves to permanent fixtures inside and out including awnings. Every policy also includes $3,000 of loose contents cover as standard, with the option to increase it if needed. Most other insurers don’t come close.
We go beyond ticking boxes, offering a personalised, customised process to make sure your policy fits your RV and your lifestyle. We don’t let spreadsheets determine outcomes because your insurance should be as unique as you are.
As New Zealand’s leading RV insurance specialist, Star Insure provides the ultimate care and protection, at the best price.
Peace of mind to keep you moving.
New Zealand’s best Roadside Assistance
Exclusive Roadside Assistance - the best bits.
- Nationwide 24/7 roadside assistance: Call 0800 888 247
- Cover applies to the vehicle, not the driver.
- Market-leading annual limits for roadside and towing services.
- NZ’s highest combined level of roadside support for RVs and specialty vehicles.
All Star Insure policies come with an exclusive Roadside Assistance membership, provided by New Zealand Roadside Assistance, giving you nationwide 24/7 support whenever you need it. Our membership covers the vehicle, (not the driver) so anyone behind the wheel of your RV gets extra peace of mind.
If your RV can’t be fixed on the spot, we’ll get you to safety. Our membership includes towage to the nearest secure location* whether that’s a repair shop, tow yard or your nominated home, with a maximum of $1,000 per callout and unlimited callouts throughout the year. With market-leading annual limits for roadside assistance and tow, this membership offers the highest combined level of support available in New Zealand.
*Nearest place of safety = a secure tow yard, mechanical repair premises or a nominated home address (whichever is the closest to the breakdown).
What do I need to get a quote?
- Personal Details
We’ll need a few personal details from you like your driver’s licence, date of birth, address and more. This helps us get a complete picture of your policy application and ensure you’re properly covered.
- Vehicle Details
Tell us about your RV including its registration number so we can pull the right details from the NZTA. We’ll also ask how you use it and how often, to make sure your cover fits perfectly.
- Driving History
We’ll ask you 8 questions as part of the process including whether you’ve had speeding tickets, previous accidents or convictions. Being upfront about your driving history is important because insurance relies on good faith and it can save you headaches later if you ever need to make a claim.
- Next Step - Our Review
At this stage, we’ve got your information and your file is assigned a quote number which is emailed to you right away. We’ll then personally review your application and put together your insurance options. If we receive your application during business hours, you can usually expect your options in your inbox within 30 minutes. Just click the link in the email to view them. From there, simply choose your preferred policy and any add-ons, select your policy start date (from today up to 30 days ahead) then pick monthly or annual payments and make payment. And just like that, you’re insured!
